Ash Wednesday
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 1, and worship at 12:15 P.M. and 6:30 P.M.Ashes have great meaning. The true name for this day is the Day of Ashes. It is called Ash Wednesday because, being forty days before Good Friday, it always falls on a Wednesday, and because on that day at church the faithful have their foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross. In the Bible, a mark on the forehead is a symbol of a person’s ownership. Having our foreheads marked with the sign of a cross symbolizes that we belong to Jesus Christ who died on a Cross. This
is a remembrance of the mark put on a Christian in baptism.
