Confirmation at Trinity
Our goal is to equip and empower students with the ability to navigate life and faith, providing direction for discipleship.
Trinity’s Confirmation program begins in grade 6 and leads to Affirmation of Baptism typically in the spring of their 9th grade year. Please know that there is do “deadline,” and youth may take as much time as they need. Confirmation is designed to bring youth together on Wednesday nights for 55 minutes, and the emphasis of our program is participating, experiencing, and practicing faith through worship, study, and service.
What is Affirmation of Baptism?
When we talk about faith, baptism is where we begin as Lutherans. Many youth were baptized when they were young, but not all. In baptism, God claims us and promises to walk with us in faith. Baptism is a lifelong event, and so when we affirm our baptism, we reaffirm the promises made for us by our parents and sponsors at baptism. We acknowledge God’s love, God’s presence, and God’s promise for our lives.
6th Grade Bibles and Backpacks: All 6th grade youth receive a Bible and backpack to be used on Confirmation nights and at home.
7th Grade Prayer Friend Program: Each 7th grade youth will be paired with an anonymous adult member of the congregation who will pray for them throughout the school year. Youth and Prayer Friends will meet each other near the end of the school year and enjoy a time of fellowship.
8th Grade Retreat: Retreat offers youth a time to unplug and let go in order to focus on their relationship with God. This retreat for 8th grade youth will nurture faith, deepen relationships with God and each other, and allow youth to hear and proclaim the Good News of Christ.
High School Affirmation of Baptism Sunday: Typically occurring in the spring of their 9th grade year, youth make public profession of their faith during Sunday morning worship.
High School Youth Group
Our High School Youth group is not currently meeting regularly, but keep your eyes open for pop-up events and other fun ways to get involved!
High School Trip
Each summer, Trinity youth embark on a trip that will influence their faith lives in extraordinary ways. Trips provide our youth with experiences that will deepen their faith, learn how they can develop a closer relationship with God, develop and nurture relationships with adults and peers, and realize that loving God and believing in God are fun and exciting!
Trips occur on a 3-year rotation: ELCA Youth Gathering, Adventure, Mission
